For the Dental Professionals in Jamaica<\/p>\n

Dentistry normally falls under the category of healthcare delivery, which is regulated by the Dental Council of Jamaica. The Council is responsible for overseeing any training, which may be authorized for the profession. They are responsible for verifying the competency of those who go into practice. They are responsible for enforcing laws and regulations of the country for the dental profession. So, they naturally must review the credentials of anyone coming into the country to practice.<\/p>\n

The Pharmacy Act 1975<\/p>\n

Regulation Section 20<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0(5) <\/strong>Every prescription for a drug shall include the following:-<\/p>\n

(a) The date;<\/p>\n

(b) The name, age and address of the person for whom the prescription is issued;<\/p>\n

(c) The name, the generic name, and the quantity of the substance to be supplied;<\/p>\n

(d) Adequate directions for the use of the substance prescribed;<\/p>\n

(e) The usual signature of the prescriber and his name in legible print form;<\/p>\n

(f) The address, telephone number and registration number of the prescriber;<\/p>\n

(g) Where the prescription is given by a registered dentist or registered veterinary surgeon or veterinary
\npractitioner, the words \"for dental treatment only\" or \"for treatment of animals only\", as the case may require.<\/p>\n
