Criteria for the approval of CPE activities<\/h2>\n

The following criteria will be applied in assessing the suitability of the course for approval as verifiable CPE for individual practitioners<\/p>\n

Course providers are expected to submit applications for course approval in advance of the course taking place (approximately one month before).\u00a0\u00a0 If a course provider is submitting an application for verifiable CPD approval, the above criteria must be met, along with the following:<\/p>\n

Applications for study group activity approval<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
\n

If verifiable CPD approval is being sought for study group activities, the application should include the date, hours attended, the educational aim of the meeting, description of the content, and evaluation of the value to the individual and implications for practice.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

Criteria for Granting CE Credits among Training Institutions\/Entities by the Dental Council of Jamaica (DCJ) (Update)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The DCJ is committed towards maintaining clinical competencies by ensuring that all dental professionals operating in Jamaica maintain state-of-the-art<\/em> methods and protocols that will ensure safe clinical practises. The primary objective is to mitigate those risks associated with the delivery oral health services.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Continuing Education Provider wishing to be awarded CE Credits to their participants is required to provide the following.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. All courses offered for CE Credits\u00a0 must have a sound\u00a0 scientific basis in order to adequately protect the public;<\/li>\n
  2. In addition to providing the course outline and course content, the curriculum vitae of each course instructor must be provided;<\/li>\n
  3. Education objectives , course development, course selection and course instructors must be conducted\u00a0 independent of commercial interests;<\/li>\n
  4. The provider must ensure that Continuing\u00a0 Education activities\u00a0 promote improvements in oral healthcare\u00a0 and the training activity must not be<\/strong> specific drug , device, service\u00a0 or technology of a commercial entity;<\/li>\n
  5. Promotional activities must not be designed for CE Credits, and<\/li>\n
