Continuing Professional Education<\/h2>\n

With the vast increase in the knowledge base, it is essential that health professionals constantly update their skills. In an effort to ensure quality, the following groups of dental professionals are now required to pursue Continuing Professional Education (CPE) for renewal of Practicing Certificate (PC):<\/span><\/p>\n

Introduction<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/p>\n

\u00a0Dental Professionals<\/span><\/p>\n

i) \u00a0 Dentist
\n<\/span>ii) \u00a0Dental Hygienists
\n<\/span>iii) Dental Nurses
\n<\/span>iv) Dental Technologists<\/span><\/p>\n

Dental professionals have the personal responsibility to maintain his\/her professional competence so as to offer the appropriate dental care to the public and maintain a quality professional practice.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

From January 1st, 2015, it will be mandatory for all Dental Professionals in Jamaica to complete the required CPE Credits for renewal of the Practicing Certificate.\u00a0\u00a0 All CPE Programs must be approved by the Dental Council (DC). \u00a0\u00a0Under this program, all Dental Professionals are required to fulfil Forty hours of CPE credit.<\/span><\/p>\n

The qualifying period will be for 2 years.<\/span><\/p>\n
